Decorated with dry wall and brick, uncomfortable chairs, and small glass tables, Metro has a distinctive industrial feel to it. The service is brusque and impatient, but they make wonderful if expensive shakes (approximately $3 to $5). A small house coffee is $.90, and a large is $1.25. No free refills. The best thing about Metro is that it is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which is great for students pulling all-nighters. The entire upstairs is devoted to smokers between the hours of 2pm and 6am which is also nice as that encompasses at least 30 to 40 chair spaces. In a world where smokers have been reduced to huddling outside in cold, unpleasant weather, Metro came through by providing a clean space for smokers to socialize. The clientele consists mainly of college students, so if you are looking for peace and quiet, this is not the right place for you.

Also, six speakers hang on the wall, blaring out everything from Tori Amos to the "Conan the Barbarian" soundtrack. Occasionally, there is a comedy group or a local musician who uses the stage on Saturday nights but nothing too elaborate. All in all, Metro is a fine place to study and socialize.
